About The Swing Mavens
In early 99 bandleader, composer, arranger, producer tenor/alto/baritone saxophones & clarinet player Andy Farber formed his band The Swing Mavens. The band is dedicated to performing standards as well as Mr. Farber's original compositions and arrangements. The band's unique style is a blend of straight ahead authentic jazz that that is reminiscent of the Royal Kings of Swing themselves Duke Ellington and Count Basie and draws from the best elements of the swing era to the Rat Pack stylings of Frank, Dino and Sammy. Andy & his Mavens play music from the Swing era to Be-Bop jazz, from the American Popular Songbook to Cabaret to Tin Pan Alley, standards and Latin as well as brand new original compositions.
